Preparations are underway for 91.8 Boona FM to celebrate its 8th anniversary, known as Ekigutuuro Ruhenda Myambi, targeting an audience of not less than 30,000 revelers.
During a press conference at Platinum Classic Suits, Buyanja, Kakyene Namanya, the Boona FM Station Manager, highlighted some of the activities that have already taken place and others still ongoing, such as football matches and pre-event concerts in Ibanda, Rubare, Kizinda Playground, Kikagati border, and Kihihi at Ntare Gardens.
He asserted that matches and mobilization efforts are still ongoing up to the day of the main event.
Kakyene confirmed that Ekigutuuro Ruhenda Myambi will take place on 12th July 2025 and will feature a variety of activities, including the Anniversary Walk to be led by Bishop Calist Rubaramira of Kabale Diocese, and a Kids’ Party led by Felister the Superstar, which will entertain children aged between 5 and 13 years.
He added that there will be bicycle riding competitions with a registration fee of 30,000 UGX. The best rider will be awarded a new bicycle, the second-place winner will receive 200,000 UGX, and the third-place winner will receive 100,000 UGX.
Other activities will include the Huumura program, an eating competition, tug of war, wrestling, among others.
Kakyene also highlighted the musicians set to perform at the stadium on the event day, including Saida Kalori and her 7 dancers, Mesach Semakula, Gravity Omutujju, Chris Evans, Ray G, Truth256, among many others.
Michael Kasozi, the marketing manager of Boona FM, highlighted some of the sponsors of this mega event, including MTN, Pepsi, Moses Investments, Rukungiri Farmers SACCO, Mr. Kansiime Boaz Matita, Broad Education Consultant, Platinum Classic Suits, Lian Sweet Cakery, among others.
Kasozi said that to enter the stadium for Ekigutuuro, one is required to pay 10,000 UGX for an ordinary ticket, 30,000 UGX for VIP, 200,000 UGX for a Diamond Table, 500,000 UGX for a Gold Table, and 1,000,000 UGX for a Platinum Table.
He added that there will be only 50 stalls in the stadium to allow stall owners to earn significantly from the event.
Maanige Wenceslas, the managing director of Boona FM, said that Ekigutuuro Ruhenda Myambi is aimed at giving back to the community, especially traders who will benefit from the event.
He added that the activities of this event are also designed to benefit the community, such as the bicycle-riding competition.
He said they prioritized inclusivity while selecting the performing artists, noting that all categories of fans have been considered.
Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, another director of Boona FM, said that Boona FM is committed to serving everyone, acting as a channel through which every voice can be heard.
She revealed that they are looking forward to starting a television station in Rukungiri that will also be development-oriented.
