Thousands of people from Nyakyera Town Council, parts of Ruhaama East Constituency and Ruhaama Constituency, as well as across Ntungamo District, gathered on Sunday afternoon for a friendly football match held at Kahiija playground in Nyakyera Town Council Ntungamo district, where Boona FM FC defeated Nyakyera FC 2-1 in an away game.

The friendly match aimed at identifying and nurturing youth talent, promoting unity and friendship between Boona FM and its listeners, and mobilizing support ahead of the station’s 9th anniversary celebrations.

Speaking to our reporter, spectators Matayo Taremwa, a resident of Rwoho, and Juliet Nahwera from Nyakyera Town Council expressed gratitude for the event, saying it boosted business opportunities for local vendors selling water, soda, sugarcane, fruits, and other items. They also praised the Boona FM family for consistently airing impactful programs that have positively transformed people’s lives since the station began broadcasting in 2017.

The Boona FM agent for Nyakyera Town Council, Seith Ruzira, appreciated the station for bringing together thousands of people to share ideas, laughter, and entertainment, while also promoting physical fitness and giving listeners an opportunity to meet their favorite presenters whom they follow on air daily.

Jim Muhwezi, the head coach of Nyakyera FC, who also serves as the LC5 Councilor for Nyakyera Town Council and Secretary for Finance, Planning, and Administration for Ntungamo District, applauded the strong relationship between Boona FM and the Nyakyera community. He commended the station for regularly organizing friendly matches in the area, helping to develop youth talents, create entertainment opportunities, and promote physical fitness among residents.

Muhwezi also appreciated Boona FM for its vibrant programs that create awareness, provide education, and disseminate information across Ntungamo District and beyond.

Meanwhile, Kakyene Namanya, the Station Manager of Boona FM, thanked the people of Nyakyera for always turning up in large numbers whenever the station organizes events in the area. He pledged that the station would continue organizing such friendly games annually.

Kakyene further encouraged residents to continue relying on Boona FM as their trusted source of news, programs, and announcements.

He concluded by inviting the public to attend Akasiki k’Ekiguuturo at New Bamp Hotel on May 30, as well as the mega Ekiguuturo celebration scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Rukungiri Main Stadium as Boona FM marks nine years of service.
