Members of the Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Group, chaired by Hon. Peace Rugambwa, are set to receive their items next month following the Boona Bagaigahare Subcounty leaders’ meeting scheduled for next week.
Today, the group’s chairperson, Hon. Peace Rugambwa, announced this announcement at their head office in Ntungamo District. During the meeting, additional items, including 600 mattresses and 100 bedsheets meant for elderly beneficiaries, were delivered.
Hon. Peace Rugambwa confirmed that preparations are underway to distribute these items to all beneficiaries. However, she emphasized that the process will only begin after all sub-county leaders from Boona Bagaigahare meet to devise strategies to ensure the items reach their intended recipients. She highlighted the difficulties faced, particularly in Rukungiri District, where leaders have had to travel to Ntungamo to witness and sign for the materials. Ideally, the items should have been stored in Rukungiri, but due to what she described as selfish decisions by some leaders, storage has been arranged in Ntungamo instead.
She also mentioned that other items, such as coffee seedlings, pigs, and hens, will be distributed after this initial phase.
Several Boona Bagaigahare members expressed their gratitude and praised President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fulfilling his promise through Hon. Peace Rugambwa. They also pledged to support him in the upcoming presidential elections.
A group of Rukungiri leaders, including Moses Kanyesigye and Norman Niwagaba, the district coordinator, who traveled to Ntungamo to receive the items, voiced their frustration with the security situation in Rukungiri. They argued that poor leadership decisions have hindered opportunities for the district’s residents. They emphasized the challenges posed by having to store materials in Ntungamo, making it difficult for some members to access them.
The leaders urged the Rukungiri District authorities to reconsider their approach to Boona Bagaigahare programs, emphasizing that the focus should be on helping the people rather than fostering conflicts among leaders.
Mumpe Collins Kifene, the General Secretary of Boona Bagaigahare South Western Region, expressed his satisfaction upon receiving the items. He urged members to remain patient as they finalize plans for distribution and emphasized the importance of the upcoming meeting with all sub-county leaders to organize the process effectively.
