It was a day filled with excitement and happiness as over 1,900 coffee seedlings were distributed to members of the Bonabagigare Nyekundire Group from Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

The Bonabageihare Group was established in Rukungiri in 2014 under the leadership of the President of Uganda, through Peace Rugambwa, with the aim of improving people’s standards of living. The group currently operates across five districts in Southwestern Uganda, including Kabale, Rubanda, Ntungamo, Kisoro, and Rukungiri.

Habert Arinaitwe, the Vice Chairperson of the Bonabageihare Group at the sub-county level and the Chairperson for Nyeibingo Parish, revealed that about 70 people from Rukungiri were organized by Peace Rugambwa to meet with the President. During the meeting, they were promised several developmental initiatives, including the provision of pigs, goats, hens, and other resources. Arinaitwe expressed gratitude for the coffee seedlings received and remained hopeful for the fulfillment of the other promises made.

Ashaba Mateeka, a member of the group and a beneficiary from Buyanja Sub-county, expressed his happiness and thanked Peace Rugambwa. He shared that he had received 100 coffee seedlings, which he plans to plant and use to improve his livelihood over time.

Mary Musigiri, a resident of Nyamubogore Cell, Nyeibingo Parish, Buyanja Sub-county, also thanked Peace Rugambwa and assured others that the group is inclusive and does not discriminate. She emphasized that anyone, including elders, youth, men, and women, is welcome to join.

Ezera Twinatsiko Bahemuka thanked President Museveni for introducing such a beneficial initiative through Peace Rugambwa, which aims to improve living standards and foster development in local communities. Bahemuka, who received 200 coffee seedlings, expressed optimism about using them to advance his livelihood.

Bahemuka also criticized individuals attempting to discredit the program, urging them to understand that the initiative is focused on Uganda’s development and is not aligned with the rumors circulating about its intentions.
