Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, the National President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and former presidential candidate, urged the youth in Ntungamo not to be swayed by sectarian rhetoric, but rather to focus on issues such as service delivery and building a structured society, which he warned were crucial for the country’s future.
Addressing a crowd of over 10,000 people at the Ntungamo Monthly Market grounds during his national mobilization and consultation tour on Thursday, Kyagulanyi highlighted that sectarianism aims to distract the youth from addressing real challenges facing Uganda. He pointed out deteriorating infrastructure, rising living costs, corruption, neglect of citizens’ needs, and electoral malpractice as major hurdles that the current generation must confront for effective leadership to emerge.
Kyagulanyi emphasized that the National Unity Platform advocates inclusivity and national unity, focusing on eradicating poverty, improving governance, enhancing education and healthcare systems, and promoting the general welfare of the country.
Accompanied by several NUP leaders, including Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya, Kyagulanyi called on party supporters to welcome new members and collaborate on transforming the country’s governance.
Ntungamo, known as the birthplace of President Museveni and his wife Janet Kataaha, hosts many other NRM politicians.
