The Right Reverend Calist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese, has called upon educators in Kabale district to prioritize agricultural education as a means to combat the growing challenge of famine in the region. Speaking at the culmination of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) 2023 on Rushoroza hill in Kabale diocese, he addressed hundreds of believers gathered for the event.
Bishop Calist expressed his concern about food insecurity in Kabale, attributing it to farmers’ lack of knowledge in proper farming methods. He urged university authorities to emphasize agricultural education, stating that it would not only enhance food security in Kabale but also reduce unemployment in the area.
The focus of BAAF 2023 is the construction of St. Ignatius University in Kabale. The fundraising initiative began in August 2023 and traversed various districts, including Kampala, Sheraton Hotel, Namugongo, Rubanda, Kisoro, Rukiga, Kanungu, and Rukungiri. The climactic event at Rushoroza drew the participation of numerous people.
