Ntungamo district has recovered funds for UGX8M for Rukarango –Kibatsi PDM Sacco whose Parish Development Model funds had been stolen by District commercial officer Niwagaba Seth and Kibatsi Community Development officer Arinaitwe Isaac.
Ntungamo district registered 129 PDM Saccos to benefit from PDM funds and received sh745 million for the program last financial year.
The Deputy National Coordinator of the Parish Development Model Joveline Kyomukama Kariisa insisted that the government will continue arresting the stubborn civil servants who are thieves in the public offices.
While giving back the stolen funds to the right beneficiaries in Kibatsi, Deputy National Coordinator of the Parish Development Model Joveline Kyomukama Kariisa noted that Ugandans have lost hope and trust in civil servants who swindle and embezzle the funds intended for them.
The Ntungamo district LCV Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba Salongo said that he was shocked to find out that even in PDM there are ghost beneficiaries but warned the technical team of the worst actions against corrupt ones in the system.
Deputy RDC Ntungamo Niwamanya Robert Kamuntu hailed the members of Rukarango-Kibatsi PDM Sacco for reporting the thieves in time before vanishing in the air with the funds and they will face it rough to be an example of others.
However, District commercial officer Niwagaba Seth and Kibatsi Community Development Officer Arinaitwe Isaac are still in custody as investigations are ongoing according to DPC Ntungamo Bushaija Hannington Kanimi.
