Police in Buhweju District have started investigations into the murder by cutting off the 68-year-old woman for unknown reasons.
Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the deceased as Fridah Kantayomba 68, a peasant and a resident of Ekinoni village, Rugongo Parish, Karungu sub-county, Buhweju District.
Tumusiime further said that police have also arrested one suspect Innocent
Kakuru a peasant and the biological son of the deceased. The incident happened at an unknown time of the night on 28/09/2023.
It’s alleged that on 28/09/2023 at around 8:00 a.m. Moses Mugasha 45 a son of the deceased went to check on his mother who had been sick, reaching her house, the door was open, and he entered the bedroom where he found his mother lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the head and hands.
He reported the matter to the locals, and the area chairman Beyunga Everest with whom they later reported the matter to the police.
According to Mugisha, the body was found in a pool of blood lying in a prone position and it had two deep cut wounds on the head and hands.
Tumusiime said that it was established that the suspect had some land wrangle with the mother and in a suspicious way he had spent two nights at the Deceased’s house before the incident.
He said the body was taken to Nsiika Health Center IV in Buhweju District for post-mortem.
