Police in Sheema District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident in which a 26-year-old man lost his life by drowning.
This unfortunate event took place in Ruyonza Cell, Kyempisi ward, Shuuku town council in Sheema District. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police, has confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Junior Tumwesigye, a 26-year-old Boda-Boda rider and a resident of Kyenjojo Cell, Shuuku town council in Sheema District.
It has been reported that the deceased was last seen in an intoxicated state at Kishabya town during the night hours of November 1, 2023. He then rode his motorcycle to Nyihanga town in Rwampara District, specifically to V8 bar, around 5:00 AM. Unfortunately, the bar’s staff prevented him from entering due to the late hour.
According to Daniel Bakashaba, the 65-year-old Chairperson of LC1 Kyenjojo Cell, Shuuku town Council, Sheema District, the deceased, in an unsteady state, attempted to ride his motorcycle back and left it abandoned near V8 bar. Tragically, the deceased was later found dead, with his body floating in the River Rwizi, which forms the border between Rwampara and Sheema districts.
Tumusiime mentioned that a team specializing in homicide cases from Sheema Police Station visited the scene, retrieved the deceased’s body from the water, and transported it to Shuuku Health Center IV for a postmortem examination.
