The Uganda Prisons Service has renovated Nyakishenyi Health Centre III in Rubabo Sub-county, Rukungiri District, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, in support of activities marking the 45th anniversary of Tarehe Sita.

The renovation was carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA), the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), and other sister security agencies. The upgraded facility was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by senior army and prisons officers, local leaders, and members of the community.

The Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Huda Abason Oleru, commended the Uganda Prisons Service for its strong inter-agency cooperation and commitment to serving the people.

Representing the Commissioner General of Prisons, Commissioner of Prisons Gervase Tumuhimbise said the project was expanded following an assessment of the facility’s needs. The works included repairs, drainage improvements, and access paving, all executed by the Prisons Engineering Gang.

Maj Gen Dr Ambrose Musinguzi noted that the renovation will greatly improve health service delivery and urged leaders and health workers to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

The in-charge of Nyakishenyi Health Centre III, Dr Katusiime Hannibal, expressed gratitude to the Uganda Prisons Service and praised the engineers for their discipline, professionalism, and good conduct.
