In a tragic road accident that occurred on Monday, a motorcyclist lost his life and his passenger was injured on the Rwenshama-Bikurungu Road.
The incident took place at approximately 1:10 PM near Nyabubale Cell. According to reports, a white Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UBF 062S, was driven by Twijukye Rodgers, 31, a resident of Bikurungu town.
The truck was traveling from Rwenshama toward Bikurungu town when a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UEY 832J, collided with the rear end of the truck. The motorcycle was ridden by Nuwagaba Ronald, 36, a mason from Nyabusoro in Rushaka parish, Kanungu district.
Nuwagaba Ronald was declared dead at the scene, while his passenger, Natukunda Amon, 28, sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment. The collision occurred when Nuwagaba was overtaking the truck on the right side and lost control, leading to the fatal crash.
Police have since visited and documented the scene, and both vehicles are currently at the police station pending further inspection. Preliminary findings suggest that recklessness by the motorcyclist was the primary cause of the accident.
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
