Thousands of Christians gathered in joy and gratitude at Kabuhome Church of Uganda in Nyaburiza Parish, Ntungamo Sub-county, Ruhaama Constituency, Ntungamo District, for the official opening of a newly constructed place of worship.

The церemony was presided over by Rt Rev Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe, who consecrated the church and named it St. Andrew’s Church Kabuhome COU.

In his address, Bishop Ahimbisibwe commended the Christian community for their dedication and collective effort in constructing the modern church, as well as equipping it with essential facilities including chairs, tables, a music system, a baptismal font, and a pulpit. He urged believers and church leaders to uphold the sanctity of the church, emphasizing that it should serve as a place for prayer, guidance, counseling, and fellowship, rather than activities that undermine God’s ministry.

The Bishop also called upon Christians to accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and encouraged men in particular to love their wives, remain faithful, and actively participate in church activities.

The event was further marked by the confirmation of over 70 children into the Christian faith. Bishop Ahimbisibwe advised the newly confirmed to remain humble before God and to avoid negative influences such as sexual immorality, drug abuse, and disrespect towards parents.

Maama Lilian Ahimbisibwe encouraged Christians to live purposeful lives with clear goals and vision. She advised the youth to avoid the desire for quick and dishonest gains, urging them instead to embrace hard work, contentment, and focus on their education. She also warned against the consumption of pornography, noting its negative impact on the spiritual growth of young people.

Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner, Mrs. Miriam Mugisha Kagiga, praised the efforts of Bishop Ahimbisibwe and the South Ankole Diocese in promoting moral values and community development. She highlighted the Diocese’s initiative encouraging each household to plant at least one coffee tree, describing it as a significant contribution to government efforts aimed at reducing poverty, idleness, and unemployment.

The function attracted a wide range of dignitaries, including clergy led by Rev Canon Joram Akoraje, the Dean, and Rev Canon Alfred Tuyamureeba, the Diocesan Secretary, as well as political leaders such as Hon. Naboth Mpiridwe, LC5 Councillor for Ntungamo Sub-county. Media practitioners from across Ntungamo District and beyond were also in attendance, alongside hundreds of faithful who turned up to witness the milestone event.
