Residents of Buangari Sub County have raised concerns over the poor state of roads in their area, noting that the challenge is jeopardizing development.
Residents expressed these concerns on Tuesday during the rally of Hon. Mary Paula Kebirungi Turyahikayo, the NRM flag bearer for the Rukungiri Woman MP seat.
A section of residents told Hon. Mary Paula that the state of roads in Buangari is poor, limiting them from developing their area, since the movement of people, goods, and services is not easy.
Residents also highlighted other challenges hindering development in their area, such as lack of electricity, water, unemployment, among other challenges.
They said that the state of government schools is worrying, noting that most of them are in a sorry state and need to be amplified by government.
They urged Hon. Mary Paula not to forget them, but to always advocate for services, noting that they are going through difficulties.
In response, Hon. Mary Paula vowed to be a district-oriented leader, advocating for the betterment of the electorates.
She said she now understands the challenges in Rukungiri, revealing that she has visited most parts of Bwambara Sub County and identified challenges there, noting that she will work towards their rectification.
She said that if elected, she will focus on good service delivery since most people in Rukungiri are complaining about poor service delivery.
She revealed that she will, in the first place, work on the issue of domestic animals in Bwambara that destroy farmers’ gardens, and advocate for Rujumbura County to have a vocational school to enable youths to acquire skills to create jobs and employ their fellows.
