The newly elected Ntungamo District Councilors and LC5 Chairperson have been officially sworn into office in a ceremony held at Ntungamo Council Hall.

The ceremony was officiated by His Worship Gordon Muhimbise, who congratulated the leaders for earning the trust of their communities and urged them to prioritize development and improved service delivery.

He emphasized the need to defend the Constitution of Uganda and execute their duties with diligence, transparency, and fairness while making laws and policies.

He also highlighted the importance of local government in national development and urged councilors to adhere to the Local Government Act governing district administrations.

His Worship Gordon further encouraged the new leaders to seek guidance from experienced officials and technical staff to effectively handle council business.

The newly sworn-in LC5 Chairperson of Ntungamo District, Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba, pledged unity, cooperation, and teamwork to enhance service delivery across the district.

Samuel said his leadership will prioritize community engagement through baraza meetings to improve accountability, identify challenges, and find lasting solutions.

He stressed teamwork among councilors, district officials, and the technical team led by the Chief Administrative Officer and the Resident District Commissioner.

During the same function, Samuel appointed Hajji Asuman Kigongo as District Vice Chairperson for the next five years. Asuman, a councilor representing Nyamunuka Town Council, is serving his second term in the position.

He also named the district executive committee, including Emily Nuwagaba Atuhaire as Minister for Works, Jim Muhwezi, councilor for Nyakyera Sub-county, as Minister for Finance, and Bibiana Kakinoni, councilor for Itojo Sub-county, as Minister for Social and Community Based Services.
