NELSON K

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe has called on Christians to embrace faithful love, family reunion, repentance, and reconciliation as key pillars for overcoming life’s challenges.

Delivering his Easter Sunday message at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasaano under the North Kigezi Diocese, the sixth bishop—popularly known as “Bishop O”—urged families to reunite, rebuild trust, and support one another for prosperity.

He particularly commended women for their unwavering love and commitment to Jesus Christ, noting their kindness and sacrificial nature. The bishop likened this to the biblical women who remained at the cross and were the first at the grave, describing it as a strong sign of faithfulness.

Bishop Asiimwe praised women for demonstrating deep love for Jesus both during His life and after His death. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith and continue following Christ’s example. He also observed that women still outnumber men in many church gatherings, which he said reflects their stronger inclination toward faith and repentance.

Quoting the Gospel account of the first day of the week, the bishop recalled how three women went to Jesus’ tomb, worried about who would roll away the heavy stone. However, he explained that through the power of the Holy Spirit, the stone had already been removed. Upon arrival, they found the tomb empty and were instructed to go and proclaim that Jesus had risen.

Addressing doubts about the resurrection, Bishop Asiimwe emphasized that it is affirmed through clear signs, including the empty grave, the empty cross, and Jesus’ appearances to His disciples before ascending to heaven, events that strengthened their faith.

He further taught that through His resurrection, Jesus took the key of death from Satan, assuring Christians that death is no longer the end but a call into eternal life with Christ.

In his concluding remarks, the bishop warned Christians against carrying the burden of sins such as theft, adultery, selfishness, and arrogance. He urged believers to repent, reconcile with others, and commit to prayer as a way of overcoming life’s challenges. He stressed that persistent sin is like returning Jesus Christ to the cross.
