During her sermon at Mary’s Day at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, Maama Florence Asiimwe, the wife of the North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop, emphasized the importance of couples renewing their commitment to marriage through cooperation and unity within their families. She highlighted the prevalent challenges faced by families today, often stemming from disunity among couples.
Maama Florence urged the women in the Mothers Union to embrace their roles with integrity, emphasizing how their actions can significantly contribute to the development of their families and communities. She also called upon men to maintain their initial love and respect for their wives, cautioning against treating them as insignificant after years of marriage. She pointed out instances where some men exclude their wives from property ownership or hide financial assets, despite their vows of unity during marriage.
Additionally, Maama Florence stressed the importance of fostering love, respect, commitment, and reverence for God within families. She warned against extramarital affairs, highlighting the detrimental effects they have on families.
Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa, the President of the North Kigezi Diocese Fathers Union, echoed Maama Florence’s sentiments, urging couples to work together to fulfill their roles as parents in raising responsible children. He also spoke out against indecent dressing and immorality among the youth.
Florence Katunguka, the leader of the Mothers Union at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, encouraged women to persevere through the challenges they encounter in their marital journey.
She expressed gratitude to the men who accompanied their wives to celebrate Mary’s Day, where they received education and guidance on family development from various speakers, including Maama Florence Asiimwe, the wife of their Bishop.
