Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 75-year-old man who was allegedly murdered by his biological son.
The deceased has been identified as Katamunanwire John Wilson, a resident of Bushuro village, Bushuro parish, Kitumba sub-county, Kabale district.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, the deceased has been staying with the prime suspect, his grandson identified as Tumwikirize Owen in the same house.
During the month of November 2021, the said grandson requested a piece of land that he claimed was his late father’s share.
Maate says
The suspect wanted to sell the said piece of land but his grandfather blocked him.
Maate explains that the suspect started threatening to kill his grandfather for denying him the piece of land and yesterday the 02/07/2022 at around 1100am, he assaulted the victim in the presence of the daughter-in-law Tumwebaze Vastina.
This morning the neighbors went to church leaving the deceased and the suspect Owen at home.
At around 1100am, when an immediate neighbor Tukwasibwe Moses went to check on Katamunanwiire at his home, he found him lying dead in a pool of blood with a deep cut on the neck and head.
Tukwasibwe Moses informed the chairperson Lc1 Safari Alphonse, who reported the matter to the police.
Maate says the Scene was visited by the Kabale CID team and documented, and the body was conveyed to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The suspect is on run but efforts to have him arrested are ongoing.
