The Kabale District Khadi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, has called for national dialogue as a vital pathway to promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation in Uganda.

Sheikh Lule made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing members of the media at Masjid Jaamia Kirigime Mosque in Kabale Municipality, marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

He urged Ugandans to embrace dialogue whenever disagreements arise, emphasizing that constructive engagement is essential for national stability and democratic growth.

With the recent conclusion of the general elections, Sheikh Lule advised leaders who emerged victorious at various levels to reach out to their opponents and engage them in meaningful discussions aimed at building a shared national agenda. He cautioned against intimidation and harassment, noting that inclusive dialogue would foster harmony and strengthen the country’s democratic foundations.

The Khadi also expressed concern over ongoing conflicts in different parts of the world, particularly in Gaza, where he said innocent lives continue to be lost and many people face unlawful arrests without justice, even during the sacred month of Ramadan.

He called upon Muslims to dedicate prayers for fellow believers and other communities affected by war, and encouraged them to act as peacemakers within their own communities and across the country.

Sheikh Lule emphasized that the strength of the Islamic faith lies in unity, perseverance, and peaceful coexistence. He further encouraged believers to actively participate in religious learning sessions at their respective mosques throughout the holy month of Ramadan, describing the period as a time for spiritual reflection, renewal, and community building.
