A severe hailstorm struck Kagongi Sub County in Mbarara District, causing extensive damage to crops and buildings in Ntuura, Nsiika, and Bwengure parishes. Over 362 households were affected, with significant destruction reported.

The storm also damaged key infrastructure, including Bwengure Health Center II, where part of the building was struck by a falling tree. Additionally, Ntuura Parish headquarters, Ntuura Christian School, and Nsiika Christian Union Vision Primary School sustained damage.

Kashari North Member of Parliament, Hon. Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene, revealed this during a monitoring and inspection visit to the affected parishes in response to community concerns. He assured the affected families and institutions that reports compiled by village and sub-county leaders would be submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister for intervention.

Hon. Bataringaya emphasized the need for urgent assistance, including food relief and quick-maturing seeds such as beans and maize, to help the affected families recover. He also called on the Office of the Prime Minister to provide support in the form of cement, iron sheets, and essential household items such as blankets and bed sheets for families whose homes were destroyed.

Kagongi Sub County Chairperson, Twine Evatist, highlighted the need for government support for private schools like Ntuura Christian School and Nsiika Christian Union Vision Primary School, which play a crucial role in supplementing government efforts in educating Ugandan children.

Gumisiriza Kamiiri, the LC2 Chairperson of Ntuura Parish, expressed gratitude for the swift response from Hon. Bataringaya, who not only offered reassurance but also advised residents planning to construct homes to seek guidance from technical experts.
