Thousands of people yesterday gathered at Christ the King Church in Rukungiri Municipality to pay their last respects to the late Gaudy Kemigisha.
Gaudy Kemigisha a veteran political activist and a renowned local businesswoman succumbed to cancer last week at Mulago National Referral Hospital. She was the caretaker and manager of Opposition strongman Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s estate in Rwakabengo Rukungiri Municipality.
Speaking this afternoon at her funeral service, Dr. Col Kiiza Besigye described the deceased as a sister and a friend whom he had known for his entire life.
Besigye expressed dismay at the National health system which he said failed Kemigisha’s life where he revealed to the mourners that in the final days when she was rushed from Rukungiri to Mulago Hospital, she was abandoned in the hospital corridors for the whole night because there was no space for her in the ward.
As an FDC activist, Besigye said that the late Kemigisha fought for equality and fairness for all Ugandans.
On his part, FDC’s current party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi rallied the FDC leaders who attended the funeral to revive the glory of opposition in Rukungiri district.

FDC in Rukungiri district suffered a devastating defeat in the last elections which Mr. Oboi attributed to disunity within the party.
The requiem service was led by Rev.Fr Julius Turyatoranwa who rallied the mourners to do good while they are still on earth.
