The chaplain of Bishop Ruhindi Kebisoni High School in Kebisoni Town Council, Rukungiri District, Rev. Orishaba Allen, has encouraged students to always conduct themselves according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, reminding them that His birth was meant to save the world from sin.
Rev. Allen made the remarks on Sunday during the school’s inter-class Christmas carol competitions. The event featured Christmas song performances, skits on the birth of Jesus, and the creation of handmade Christmas items such as Christmas trees and Bethlehem models.
She noted that although Jesus was born to save humanity, many people still fail to live according to His will. Rev. Allen explained that the Christmas carol initiative, which began in 2024, aims to strengthen students’ faith and deepen their understanding of the significance of Jesus’ birth. She added that the annual carol day also helps prepare learners spiritually as they head into the long third term holiday.
Owembabazi Zebia, the head girl, commended the school administration for organizing the competitions, saying the activities encourage students to develop their talents in singing, acting, and Bible reading. She added that the carols help reinforce their faith as they reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ.
Niwandiinda Catherine, head of laity at the school, said the program has equipped her with practical skills such as making Christmas trees and Bethlehem displays, which she previously could not do.
