Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances under which an unidentified man was lynched by a mob.
The incident occurred on November 10, 2024, at around 11:00 PM in Ryamabengwa Cell, Ryamabengwa Ward, Central Division, Bushenyi District.
It is reported that on that night, Nuwamanya Kahinda, a casual worker at the home of Kyatuhaire in Ryamabengwa, heard noises outside indicating that people were stealing goats belonging to his employer. Kahinda went outside and found two men carrying a goat they had already slaughtered. When Kahinda confronted the suspects and raised the alarm, residents from the neighborhood gathered and lynched one of the thieves, who remains unidentified, to death.
George Magezi, 65, the LC.1 Chairman of Ryamabengwa Cell, reported the incident to the police. He described the deceased as a short, small-bodied, dark-skinned man in his early twenties, dressed in black trousers, a white vest, and a black jacket.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that the body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata Hospital in Sheema District for a postmortem. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
