The Chief Administrative Officer, Rukungiri District, Fredrick Byekwaso, as the custodian and accounting officer, pledged to ensure that the District’s administrative machinery remains resilient, compliant, and responsive.
He made these remarks on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony of District councillors and the District chairperson, congratulating the leadership of Rukungiri for making it through the elections and thanking the people of Rukungiri for trusting them with their votes for the next 5 years of service, saying it marks continuity in service delivery.
Byekwaso highlighted that their focus for this term is meticulously aligned with the National Tenfold Growth Strategy and the priorities of the new council, prioritizing human capital development with significant focus on the education and health sectors to bridge staffing gaps and upgrade service infrastructure.
Byekwaso further highlighted that under the Parish Development Model program, they are moving to the acceleration phase, ensuring the technical team provides professional service guidance necessary to protect revolving funds and maximize household wealth.
To the new honorable councillors, he urged them to use the technical wing as their professional partners in development, seeking councillors’ partnership in fostering a professional environment characterized by merit and the rule of law, pledging that they are going to work together to see Rukungiri develop.
Speaking shortly after taking office, the LC5 Chairperson of Rukungiri District, Charles Katebire, thanked God and the people of Rukungiri for trusting him with their votes that gave him a landslide victory, inspiring him to serve diligently, fight corruption, and promote transparency.
He further cited the completion of the administration block during his tenure and the construction of the High Court, among other achievements built on partnership, while pledging that Rukungiri still deserves more and that he will do all it takes to enhance service delivery and ensure accountability against the misuse of public resources, pledging that the district belongs to everyone and that he will work with all stakeholders to bring development to the people of Rukungiri.
