The family of Orishaba Boaz, a 32-year-old resident of Rumira Cell in Kakindo Parish, Bugangari Sub-county, Rukungiri District, is appealing to the public for financial support to save his life.
Boaz, a father of four, has battled serious chest complications for the past 13 years. During this time, he has sought treatment from several health facilities, including Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala, but his condition has not improved. Doctors have since recommended that he undergoes surgery estimated at seven million shillings, money he has so far failed to raise.
Medical experts reportedly linked his illness to prolonged exposure to smoke from his economic activities, including charcoal burning and local waragi distillation, which they say severely affected his lungs.
Boaz says he has exhausted all possible treatment options and is now living in pain as he waits for well-wishers to come to his rescue. He adds that without the recommended surgery, his health continues to deteriorate.
His wife, Rabbecca Dushimelmana, says the family has faced severe financial hardship since her husband fell ill. She explains that meeting basic needs such as food, school fees, and medical expenses has become a daily struggle.
Rabbecca commended the Lay Reader of Kakirago Church of Uganda and Bugangari Archdeaconry for granting permission to mobilize support from the church. Through these efforts, they have so far managed to raise two million shillings. However, this amount is still far below the required seven million shillings needed for the surgery.
The family is now appealing to good Samaritans for any financial assistance to help raise the remaining balance and save Boaz’s life. Contributions can be sent through mobile money on 0764 405930 in the names of Orishaba Boaz or 0776 675143 in the name of Dushimemana Rabbecca.
