Geoffrey Kyomukama, the chairperson of Rukungiri district, has encouraged residents to visit Kebisoni Seed Secondary School for available vacancies, emphasizing that the school is now well-equipped and set to open on February 5, 2023.
Speaking during a Sunday service at Kakinga Archdeaconry in North Kigezi diocese, Kyomukama commended churches and Christians for their generosity during the Christmas period.
Kyomukama addressed the history of Kebisoni Seed Secondary School, acknowledging initial delays in construction but confirming that all construction work is now complete. He mentioned that efforts are underway to recruit teachers and support staff. Furthermore, he urged residents in Kebisoni to engage in farming to supply the school, enhancing food security and providing an income.
Additionally, Kyomukama shared the news of the upcoming opening of Kabale University’s Rukungiri branch, assuring that preparations are being made to welcome students.
Ven. Can. Amos Katushabe of Kakinga Archdeaconry reported a successful fundraising effort, collecting over 400 million. Kakinga Church of Uganda was the top performer, raising 70,040,600, followed by Kakibaya with 55,775,400, Rumbugu with 52,575,500, and Kigiro with 36,018,400.
Individual contributions were highlighted, with Canon Sam Abeziibwe from Kakibaya raising the highest amount of 15 million, followed by Muhwezi Nyindombi with 10 million from Kakibaya, and Elder Emmanuel Turyamuhika Kimono with 6.5 million, also from Kakibaya.
Ven. Katushabe expressed gratitude for the support and announced their commitment to furthering development in the church, having already completed the diocesan quarters.
