Residents of Kamuziinzi Cell, Kiganga Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-County, were left horrified yesterday, 16th December 2025, after a violent domestic dispute ended in the death of a woman. The incident occurred in the late afternoon at around 3:00 PM when a husband, identified as Tumwekwase Teodoroh, attacked his wife, Nduhukire Bonny, with a sharp panga, fatally cutting her neck.

According to eye-witness Mr. Dismus Taremwa, the couple had a history of family conflicts and domestic violence, which had been ongoing for several years. “We have often seen them quarrelling and fighting,” he said. “Sadly, yesterday, the argument escalated into this fatal tragedy.”

Mr. Taremwa recounted that Teodoroh returned home in the afternoon, carrying a panga in the rain. He reportedly found Bonny cooking sweet potatoes and attacked her, causing severe bleeding that led to her immediate death.

The body was discovered by a visiting neighbor, who alerted the village, sending shockwaves through the community.

Kamunziinzi Cell LC1 Chairperson, Mr. Kamagara Appolo, confirmed the couple’s history of domestic violence, noting that last year, Teodoroh had even attempted to burn his wife alive. “Unfortunately, this time, he carried out his threat,” Appolo said.

Following the attack, Teodoroh reportedly attempted to take his own life by drinking poison. Police rescued him and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to the poison and was declared dead at Rwakabengo Health Center this morning.

Local residents also suggested that tensions between the couple had recently escalated after the theft of their cow, which led to mutual suspicion and further arguments. Teodoroh was also known to be a regular user of alcohol and drugs, which may have contributed to the violent incident.

But why domestic violence is too much in the villages, to the extent of killing one another. I think village people lacks knowledge about devorce once the stuation worsens, better some one to move on rather than killing one another.
