Angry residents of Kisoro Hill Village in Kisoro Municipality have forced out a self-proclaimed pastor, accusing her of causing increased violence and family breakups in the community.
The pastor, Justine Majambere, in her 40s, has resided in the Russia section of Kisoro Hill Village for over five years. Originally from Mubuga-Gasave in Nyakinama Sub-county, Kisoro District, Majambere had relocated to Russia to access urban services and rented a place there.
Residents allege that Majambere is responsible for numerous family breakups and violent incidents in the area. They claim that her negative prophecies, which include predictions of deaths, school dropouts, beatings, and robberies, invariably come true.
The residents further argue that her presence hinders the area’s development. Russia in Kisoro Hill, Kisoro Municipality, is already known as a hideout for criminals, heightening the residents’ concerns.
Sam Munezero, the LC1 chairperson of Kisoro Hill Village, confirmed that Majambere had been living in his village and that he had received numerous complaints from residents seeking permission to expel her. Although Majambere had over 50 followers from various sub-counties in Kisoro District, she was rescued by Kisoro police during the attack by residents.
When approached for comment, Justine Majambere declined to speak.
