The territorial police in Rukungiri are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the demise of 56-year-old Beatrice Kenyonyozi, a resident of Nyakatunguru cell in Bugongi Parish, Kanungu district.
According to reports, in October 2023, the deceased began cohabiting with Matsiko Richard in Kafunjo cell. Subsequently, in January 2024, accompanied by Matsiko Richard, they rented a room from Muhumuza Emmanuel in Kafunjo Trading Centre. She took up residence in her rented room, with Matsiko Richard frequently visiting.
On the 6th of January 2024, at approximately 02:00 PM, she handed over the keys to her landlord and left for an undisclosed location.
Regrettably, on the 28th of January 2024, around 06:00 AM, hunters discovered her lifeless body in a sorghum garden. They promptly informed Denis Kyohangyirwe, the area chairperson of Kafunjo, who reported the incident to the Buyanja police.
The crime scene was thoroughly examined and documented by the Divisional Scene of Crime Officer (D/soco) and homicide detectives. Statements were obtained from witnesses, and the body was transported to Rwakabengo HC III for a postmortem examination.
The inquiries, are currently underway.
