Unknown perpetrators in Kabale District have stolen the medals from the Ndorwa West Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) football tournament.

The tournament concluded at Janan Luwum Memorial School Kamuganguzi playground in Ndorwa West county of Kabale District, with participants departing without their deserved honors. Kibuuga Sub-county Football Team emerged victorious over Kahungye Sub-county Football Team in the final match with a score of 1-0.

Simon Agaba, the tournament’s primary sponsor, disclosed that the medals were taken from a vehicle transporting the trophy, medals, and PLU T-shirts. Eight teams from Ndorwa West partook in the competition. Despite the unfortunate incident, the winners received one million shillings, while the second runners-up were granted five hundred thousand shillings.

Agaba, who also seeks the Ndorwa West parliamentary seat in 2026, expressed his disappointment, citing this occurrence as a setback to sports and talent nurturing. He suspects a premeditated scheme behind the theft, noting that the perpetrators were armed with machetes.

Evarest Asiimwe, the PLU National Sports Coordinator, emphasized the organization’s dedication to cultivating talent from the grassroots level. He condemned the theft of the medals, attributing it to political motives.
