Christians of Kyatoko Church of Uganda under Rujumbura Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese have raised over UGX 9.4 million during celebrations to mark Palm Sunday and Mother Mary’s Day. The funds were collected as part of the Mothers Union thanksgiving, with a significant portion earmarked for completing the construction of a new church.

While preaching during the service, the Kigezi Diocese Mothers Union Chairperson, Rev. Deborah Tushabe, urged parents—especially mothers—to live exemplary lives rooted in strong Christian values. She emphasized the importance of being God-fearing, loyal, and committed to prayer in order to overcome life’s challenges.

Rev. Tushabe also encouraged Christians to extend kindness to the needy and remain committed to giving back to God through offertories and service. She further called upon mothers to dedicate not only their lives but also their families to Christ, urging them to emulate the humility, faith, and obedience of the Holy Mother Mary.

Kyatoko Church of Uganda Priest, Rev. Edson Ampeire, commended the preacher for delivering a timely and impactful message. He expressed hope that the teachings would guide Christians—particularly mothers—in overcoming life’s trials.

Rev. Ampeire also applauded the Mothers Union for organizing a successful thanksgiving, which raised over UGX 9.2 million. He echoed the call for Christians to imitate the virtues of Mother Mary, especially her patience, humility, and unwavering faith.

Speaking shortly after the thanksgiving, the Kyatoko Mothers Union Chairperson, Mrs. Njuna Josephine, thanked the guest preacher for delivering a message that resonated deeply with the congregation. She urged fellow women to remain humble, faithful, and exemplary in their families, following the example of Mother Mary.

Mrs. Njuna expressed gratitude to Christians for their generosity, noting that more than UGX 9 million was raised. She encouraged continued support toward church development and service to God.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Twikiriize Joab, Head of Laity at St. John’s Kanyanga Church of Uganda under Kakinga Archdeaconry, commended the Kyatoko congregation for their unity and commitment to serving God.

He encouraged Christians who have accepted Jesus Christ to remain steadfast in their faith and inspire others to join God’s kingdom. Reflecting on the Lenten season, Mr. Twikiriize urged believers to remain patient, repentant, and focused on righteous living.

He also contributed UGX 1 million towards the Mothers Union thanksgiving.
