Kitanga Deanery, comprising Kitanga, Bukinda, Muhanga, and Kamwezi parishes in Kabale Diocese, on Saturday organized a colorful ceremony to raise 270 million shillings in support of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) for 2023.

This fund is dedicated to the construction of St. Ignatius University, which needs 3 billion shillings to complete. The event was led by Bishop Calist Rubaramira of Kabale Diocese.

Dr. Slyvia Arinaitwe, the Deputy Executive Director at the National Water & Sewerage Corporation, was the guest of honor and encouraged people to contribute to the cause. Dr. Arinaitwe himself donated 105 million shillings to construct St. Ignatius University.

Honorable Roland Bish, a Member of Parliament representing Rukiiga County, made a generous contribution of over 4 million shillings to the cause. Caroline Kamusime Muhwezi, the Woman Member of Parliament for Rukiiga district, also raised approximately 4 million shillings to support the same initiative.
The campaign is still ongoing to raise the remaining 3 billion shillings needed for the completion of St. Ignatius University, which is set to be constructed on Rushoroza Hill within Kabale Diocese.
