Police in Kanungu District are investigating a suspected murder case following the discovery of a man’s body on the morning of March 13, 2025.
The deceased, identified as Arineitwe Beda, a resident of Nyabirehe, Kihembe Parish in Kanyantorogo Sub County, was found lying in the middle of the road.
According to police reports, Beda had been working as a casual laborer at the home of Nakirirehe Bernard for three days before his mysterious death.
On the evening of March 12, at around 9:00 pm, Bernard’s wife, Ketty, served Beda food in the house where he usually slept alongside their grandchild, Bless. Shortly after, Bless informed Ketty that his clothes were missing. Upon checking, they also realized that Beda’s belongings were gone, and he was nowhere to be found.
Since the room was locked, Bless decided to spend the night at his grandparents’ house. The following morning, Ketty received a call from a resident, Kibedi, who informed her of an unidentified body lying lifeless on the road.
Upon reaching the scene, Ketty and her family identified the deceased as Beda. A report was immediately filed at Katete Police Post, prompting officers to visit the crime scene, document their findings, and record statements from witnesses.
The body was later taken to Kihiihi Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue to establish the cause of death.
ASP Maate Elly, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
