Greater Bushenyi police are investigating two separate hit-and-run accidents that claimed the lives of different individuals on Sunday.

In the first incident, an unidentified adult female was fatally struck at around 7:50 PM along Mashonga, on the Ishaka–Kasese Road. Tayebwa Apollo, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer for Greater Bushenyi, said eyewitnesses suspected the woman may have been mentally ill, as she was walking along the road when an unknown vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, hit her and fled the scene.

Tayebwa urged anyone with information that could help police trace the suspects to report it confidentially to the nearest Uganda Police station. He also strongly reminded all road users to observe traffic rules to safeguard lives and property.

The deceased’s body was taken to Kitagata Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination, as required by law. Following the examination, the body was handed over to the family for burial.
