In the current fiscal year, the government is set to extend electricity to Kibuzigye Seed School in Kibuzigye Ward, Hamuhambo Town Council, located in Rubanda East County, Rubanda District.
Henry Musasizi, the Minister of Finance (General Duties), announced this plan during the wedding ceremony of Musinguzi Ivan and Kyogabirwe Sylvia at Kibuzigye Catholic Church, a Sub Parish under Kakore Parish.
Minister Musasizi shared the background of Kibuzigye Seed School, recounting how the community had sought government assistance in 2010 when he was campaigning for his initial term in parliament. Last year, he launched the construction of the school with a budget of Shs. 2.42 billion, assigned to Geses Uganda Ltd. The project included the construction of Two Classroom blocks, an ICT Block, a science block, two self-contained Twin Staff buildings, two water tanks, and Two VIP Latrines.
During a recent inspection of the school over the festive season, Minister Musasizi identified the necessity for electricity to enhance the learning environment. Expressing concerns about the adequacy of relying solely on solar panels and generators, he disclosed that he had engaged Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development. He secured an agreement to implement the extension of electricity to the school within the ongoing fiscal year.
Kibuzigye Seed School is the third seed secondary school constructed in Rubanda, following the completion and commissioning of Nyamweru in 2022 and the ongoing construction of Ruhiija Seed Secondary School. The government’s overarching goal is to establish at least one secondary school in each sub-county. The wedding mass, presided over by Rev Fr Kenneth Birungi, emphasized key values for couples, including forgiveness, trust in God, and a focus on development to build resilient families.
