Mr. Maanige Wenceslas, the Director of Broad Educational Consult, as well as Boona Fm, has commended the significant role played by the church in the Education and Health sectors. He conveyed this message on Sunday, January 14, 2024, while presiding over the thanksgiving and graduation ceremony at Ihembe Vocational Secondary School in Rukiri Cell, Ihembe Parish, Bugongi Sub County, Kanungu District.
Ihembe Vocational Secondary School, established by the Ihembe Church of Uganda in 2017, focuses on training vocational skills such as tailoring, bricklaying and concrete practice, hairdressing, catering, electrical installation, among others. The school operates from buildings carved out from Ihembe Primary School.
During the event, Ihembe Vocational Secondary School aimed to raise a budget of 16,907,500 for the construction of an office and classroom block, transitioning from the current primary school buildings.
Mr. Maanige Wenceslas emphasized that churches prioritize schools and health centers due to their significant roles in education and healthcare, which are sources of knowledge and wealth.
He praised parents for their sacrifices in educating their children and congratulated the graduates for their hard work. He stressed that education is the tool that unites the rich and the poor, as well as the ignorant and the wise.
Encouraging parents to prioritize vocational education, Mr. Maanige Wenceslas highlighted its role in combating corruption, as vocational services are tangible and less prone to corruption.
He urged individuals to work hard to achieve wealth, discouraging them from wasting time on rumors and attributing wealth to secret societies like the Illuminati..
Rev Justus Tukwasibwe, the Parish Priest of Ihembe Church of Uganda, who presided over the thanksgiving service, praised the congregation for supporting the project, envisioning the transformation of the institution into a renowned one. He challenged parents to enroll their children in the institution to facilitate its growth.
Retired Rev Canon Nathan Turyahikayo, the founder of Ihembe Vocational Secondary School, shared his commitment to bringing education facilities closer and called on parents to support the institution.
Canon Fred Mugisha, an elder and member of Synode Kinkizi Diocese representing Ihembe Church of Uganda, expressed their focus on promoting vocational skills and agricultural knowledge to empower people to become job creators rather than seekers, as a key to development.
Akampurira Medard, the Principal of Ihembe Vocational Secondary School, expressed gratitude to all well-wishers who have supported the institution since its inception. He revealed plans to raise awareness among locals about the institution’s importance in the area, aiming to increase enrollment.
Mr. Maanige Wenceslas made a significant contribution of 1 million Uganda shillings cash and pledged 750,000 to cover Cement expenses towards the school’s development.
