Mitooma District police are currently investigating an incident involving the death of a 57-year-old man, Matia Tukamiheebwa, under mysterious circumstances.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, provided details about the victim, who was a peasant residing in Nyabyondo cell, Rwoburunga Parish, Rwoburunga sub-county in Mitooma District.

On the morning of January 29, 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM, the lifeless body of Matia Tukamiheebwa was discovered by Robert Mwebembezi, a 46-year-old resident of Rutookye 3 cell, Kibaare Ward, Rutookye town council in Mitooma District.

The body was found lying under eucalyptus trees along the path leading to his home, exhibiting multiple cuts on the head.

According to reports, the deceased had left his residence around 5:00 PM the previous day, heading to Omukibaati trading center, but he never returned.

The body was located in an isolated area with no nearby households, and it was surrounded by a pool of blood.

Matia Tukamiheebwa’s remains were subsequently transported to Mitooma Health Center IV for postmortem examination. Police are actively seeking information to determine the motive behind this tragic incident.
