The Rukungiri district local government has decided to commend schools that excelled in the 2023 PLE, UCE, and UACE examinations. This decision was reached during the district council meeting held on Wednesday, following a recommendation from the social services committee report presented by Mrs. Musiimenta Caledonia Bakironda Clare, the Rukungiri district secretary for education, commercial services, and tourism.
Mrs. Musiimenta emphasized that recognizing top-performing schools could encourage healthy competition among all schools, ultimately improving academic standards. The council agreed to honor these schools by presenting them with certificates of appreciation. The specific date for this recognition will be communicated during the district’s end-of-year party in 2023.
In the 2023 PLE, Bugyera Kitojo primary school emerged as the top-performing government school, with 21 candidates achieving first-grade scores and 19 in the second-grade. Among private schools, Rubanga Parents Primary School and Braintrust Primary School stood out, with all 30 candidates from Rubanga Parents achieving division 1, and Braintrust Primary School Kasoroza achieving a 100% pass rate, with all 25 candidates scoring division 1.
Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district chairperson, expressed support for the initiative, highlighting that recognizing top performers has been a longstanding practice in the district.
