Rtd . Maj Jessica Alupo, Vice President of Uganda, has called for discipline among students for a better future and urged parents to teach their children to be patriotic.

These remarks were conveyed on Wednesday by Minister Raphael Magezi of Local Government, who represented Rtd Maj. Jessica Alupo as the Chief Guest at the commissioning of a girls’ dormitory block at St. Patricia Girls Vocational School, Muhito, in Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District, while also celebrating ten years of service to the nation.

Representing Her Excellency, Minister Raphael Magezi emphasized the importance of total discipline among students if they want to become influential people in the future. He also advised parents to instill a sense of patriotism in their children, encouraging them to love their country, noting that Uganda is theirs and they have no other homeland.

He further expressed appreciation for inviting the Vice President as the Chief Guest and pledged to serve as a bridge and voice in the government on issues raised, such as the school needing a grant. He also encouraged LC1 Chairpersons to be patient regarding their modest allowances, assuring them that the President has plans to address this issue soon.

Rev. Fr. Nshekanimanya Gilvaz, Archdiocesan Education Secretary of Mbarara Archdiocese, representing His Grace Archbishop Lambert Beinomugisha as the main celebrant, thanked the NRM government of Uganda, led by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the peace and stability in the country. He noted that such peace has allowed many people to settle and contributed to the development of schools.

He further urged parents to educate the girl child, emphasizing that educating girls is equivalent to educating the nation, as they are the mothers of tomorrow. He encouraged patience among parents to achieve the success they desire.

Hon. Professor Ephraim Kamuntu, NRM Flag Bearer for Sheema South and Senior Presidential Advisor, urged students to embrace education, describing it as an equalizer. He said that education empowers individuals so that they can never be made subservient, noting that quality education leads to a quality life.

He also applauded the Vice President of Uganda for her efforts in helping the school grow to greater heights.

The LC5 Chairperson of Sheema District, Jemimah Tumwijukye Buhanda, urged LC1 Chairpersons to mobilize support for H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming presidential election. She highlighted that local leaders have the votes in their villages and should encourage participation, citing the peace and stability Uganda has enjoyed compared to the struggles refugees face in other countries.

The Headmistress of St. Patricia Girls Vocational School, Provia Kabami, thanked all attendees for honoring the invitation. She noted that the school was launched by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as a centenary project of Saint Patricio Muhito Catholic Centre on 23/08/2014 and has steadily developed, with enrollment now at its highest level.
