Political activist Mr. Ambrose Kibuuka, hailing from Rujumbura Constituency in Rukungiri District, has issued a challenge to Kabale Diocese regarding the inauguration of Kirama Catholic Church in Rwengiri Parish. Kirama Catholic Church falls under the jurisdiction of Rwengiri Catholic Parish in Bwambara Sub County, Rujumbura Constituency, Rukungiri District.
Mr. Kibuuka presented this challenge on Sunday, January 28, 2024, during his address at a thanksgiving event organized to raise funds for the purchase of Choir Uniforms and Choir equipment at Rwengiri Catholic Parish. He highlighted that Kirama Catholic Church possesses a suitable church building, a substantial population, and a nearly completed Priest’s house, making it eligible for elevation to a fully stationed Parish.
During the event, Ms. Nuwagaba Annah Tumuramye contributed 200,000/= (Two hundred thousand shillings) towards the completion of the Priest’s house, urging fellow Christians to actively support the development of churches, which she described as a source of blessings.
Rev Father Barasisio Begumisa, the Assistant Priest of Rwengiri Catholic Parish, who led the thanksgiving mass, encouraged Christians to embrace singing prayer songs, emphasizing that such songs bring double blessings compared to regular prayers.
Responding to Mr. Ambrose Kibuuka’s plea for Parish status for Kirama Catholic Church, Turinawe Edward, the Catechist of Kirama Catholic Church, affirmed that the church is strategically located in an area with a substantial population deserving of Parish status.
Turyasingura Joseph, the Chairperson of Choirs at Rwengiri Catholic Parish, expressed gratitude, noting that the singer’s population is growing due to the blessings they witness. The fundraising effort during the event yielded a total of 1,040,000/= (One million forty thousand shillings), dedicated to purchasing Choir Uniforms and equipment.
