Thousands of Christians on Sunday gathered at Nyakibale Catholic Parish for the 2025 BAAF celebration, whose main purpose was to raise 141 million shillings to support the construction of a parish recreational facility that is expected to boost income for the parish.
The celebration began with a solemn Mass led by Rev. Fr. Fiderisi Ndajimana, the Pastoral Coordinator for Kabale Diocese, who represented the Bishop.
In his homily, Fr. Ndajimana emphasized the value of hard work, noting that Christians are capable of supporting themselves through dedication and commitment, as guided by Second Thessalonians 4:7–12.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Sylvia Arineitwe the NRM Woman MP Flag bearer for Rukiga district, commended the people of Kigezi for their resilience and urged them to continue working hard to support their families. She also appreciated government initiatives such as PDM and Boona Bageigahare, which she said are playing a key role in poverty eradication.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Hon. Mary Paula, NRM Woman MP flag bearer for Rukungiri District; Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde, NRM flag bearer for Rukungiri Municipality; and Retired Maj. Gen. Jim K. Muhwezib the incumbent Mp Rujumbura county.
Nyakibale Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Konrad Atuheire, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for decentralizing this year’s BAAF to parishes and for contributing 30% of the collections. He also appreciated everyone who gave—whether big or small—helping the parish surpass its budget of Shs 141 million.
On the same note, the Dean of Nyakibale Deanery applauded Christians for turning up in large numbers and for their continued obedience and support toward deanery projects.
A total of Shs 138,692,000 was collected in cash, Shs 380,000 in pledges, and 10 bags of cement, bringing the grand total to Shs 141,689,200.
