A 31-year-old woman from Lira District has launched an emotional appeal to trace her long-lost father, a UPDF soldier from Rukungiri who disappeared while on a mission in Liberia in 1994.
Mrs. Apili Jacky, born Namanya Jackline on 27th December 1994 in Irenda village, Lira District, says she has never seen her father, Mr. Mugisha Alex, since birth. According to her mother, Mrs. Amongi Caroline, Mugisha was serving at Loro 5th Division Barracks as a bodyguard to the army treasurer before being deployed to Liberia.
Jacky’s mother recalls that during her pregnancy, Mugisha instructed her through a phone call to name the baby Namanya Jackline. However, soon after Jacky’s birth, communication between the couple was lost, and the family has never heard from him again.
Speaking to Boona Radio, Jacky expressed her deep desire to reconnect with her father or at least learn what became of him. “I have grown up without ever seeing my dad. I only know him by name, and I wish to interact with my blood origin or find out what exactly happened to him,” she said.
Now living with her mother in Lira City, Jacky hopes that anyone with information about her father, Mugisha Alex from Rukungiri District, can help her reunite with him after three decades of uncertainty.
