The Kabale Municipality Council gathered for a special session today to honor the memory of former Mayor, Dr. Pius Ruhemurana, who dedicated two decades of service to the community.
Under the guidance of Municipality Speaker Deogratias Byamukama, council members, including Twahirwa Anteli, the representative for elder persons, and Joelia Kakooza, former deputy mayor during Dr. Ruhemurana’s tenure, warmly recalled his contributions as a pioneer in local politics. They praised his efforts in nurturing new entrants into the political sphere and his unwavering advocacy for Kabale municipality’s development.
Byamukama, reflecting on Dr. Ruhemurana’s legacy, emphasized his dual roles as a dedicated gynecologist and a passionate political leader, serving as a symbol of excellence for the municipality and the Kabale Diocese.
Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, the current Kabale Municipal Mayor who succeeded Dr. Ruhemurana, hailed him as a leader committed to justice and transparency.
Honoring Dr. Ruhemurana’s community-focused approach, Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kamara, commended him for his deep connection with the people, highlighting his genuine concern for their welfare and his strong devotion to his family.
Dr. Pius Ruhemurana passed away from a stroke on Wednesday night at Rugarama Hospital. He will be laid to rest in Kashumuruzi village, Kitanga parish, Kashambya sub-county, Rukiga district, on Friday, April 26th, 2024.
