Workers have been cautioned against depending on energy drinks as a source of strength, with health experts warning that the practice poses serious risks to their lives.

The advice was given on Thursday, September 25, 2025, by Ms. Beatrice Chemisto, the Assistant District Health Officer for Ntungamo, while addressing a joint fellowship of members of the Rotary Club of Rukungiri Central and Rotary Club of Ntungamo at Rukungiri Inn Hotel in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Chemisto emphasized the importance of fair treatment of workers, maintaining workplace hygiene, safeguarding the body, and avoiding the overuse of energy drinks to push physical limits. She noted that such practices can lead to loss of self-control and long-term health complications.

During the event, Ms. Sophia Turyabagyenyi, President of the Rotary Club of Rukungiri Central, welcomed her colleagues from Ntungamo and outlined priority activities for the club this month, with a focus on supporting education through the provision of scholastic materials. She also encouraged the public to join Rotary and work together to transform communities.

Mr. Johnson Mwijuka, Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Ntungamo, shared the club’s upcoming plans, including a free medical camp. He further urged the Rukungiri Central club to increase the recruitment of women, noting that women often deliver consistent impact in public service activities.

Rotary International is a global charity organization that mobilizes resources to support communities in areas such as clean and safe water, environmental conservation, homestead hygiene, and gender rights advocacy, among others.
