The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has pledged continued support to Africa Coffee Park to boost coffee production.

These remarks were made today by State Minister for Finance, Hon. Henry Musasizi, during his visit to Africa Coffee Park in Rwashamaire Town Council, Kajara, Ntungamo District. The visit was aimed at identifying the works and products manufactured at the factory, as well as analyzing the impact of government support to the company and its contribution to the country’s economy.

Minister Musasizi thanked CEO Nelson Tugume for coming up with an innovation of adding value to coffee, providing employment to over 1,000 people working both in the field and in the factory, and accessing international markets for Uganda’s coffee and its products, which compete with those of other countries. He also urged Members of Parliament to visit such facilities and conduct field studies before participating in committee meetings and making resolutions, noting that such visits help in assessing the performance of government investments.

Minister Musasizi further acknowledged that the government and the Ministry of Finance are committed to continuing support for Inspire Africa Coffee. He noted that the government is providing adequate electricity and water specifically for the factory to ensure the smooth operation of machines.

CEO Nelson Tugume of Inspire Africa Coffee said the company aims to increase coffee production by equipping local farmers with knowledge on coffee planting, irrigation, and improving coffee prices so that everyone benefits from coffee production.

He added that the factory currently employs over 1,000 people, thereby reducing unemployment and contributing to the tourism industry. He appealed to the government to support local farmers with fertilizers to increase productivity.

Hon. Amos Kankunda Akooki, the Member of Parliament for Rwampara County and Parliamentary Chairperson of the Finance Committee, noted that the visit was aimed at assessing how government support has been utilized by the investor in implementing the intended programs. He urged the public to embrace the factory’s initiatives, noting that adding value to Uganda’s coffee helps it compete with other countries.
