The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kanungu District, Mr. Ahimbisibwe Gad Rugaju, has been honored with a prestigious Honorary Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min) in Leadership by Immanuel International Christian University.

The award was conferred in recognition of his selfless leadership, commitment to fighting impunity and corruption, and his role as a voice for the voiceless.

Mr. Rugaju, who is also pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organizational Management at Northwestern Christian University, USA, described the recognition as a major milestone in his leadership journey. The new honor now positions him among the rare category of leaders with both an academic and honorary doctorate title.

“This recognition is not about me as an individual, but about the values of integrity, service, and accountability that we must all uphold in leadership. I dedicate this award to the people of Kanungu and Uganda at large,” said Dr. Rugaju after receiving the award.

An honorary doctorate is a distinguished academic award given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society, leadership, or humanity. Unlike a traditional PhD, which requires years of academic study and research, an honorary doctorate is awarded based on impact, vision, and contribution to society.

While a PhD reflects academic mastery, an honorary doctorate symbolizes recognition and respect. Both titles allow recipients to be addressed as “Doctor,” though their purposes differ.

The awarding institution, Immanuel Theology Educational Institute International, is a Christ-centered university dedicated to equipping pastors, leaders, and bishops for the Pentecostal and Charismatic faith. Founded over 15 years ago, the institute has expanded globally, with more than 50 campuses and over 14,000 graduates worldwide.

Headquartered in South Africa, the university offers accredited programs ranging from diplomas to doctoral levels in Theology, Prophetic Ministry, Chaplaincy, and Pastoral Counseling. Its faculty of more than 120 professors is dedicated to transforming lives through faith-based education.

The recognition of Dr. Rugaju further highlights the institute’s commitment to honoring leaders who inspire transformation in their communities.

This recognition is not only a personal achievement for Mr. Rugaju but also a proud moment for Kanungu District and Uganda. It reflects international appreciation for the country’s leadership talent and commitment to community service.

Congratulations to Dr. Ahimbisibwe Gad Rugaju on this remarkable honor.
