Residents of Bwambara Subcounty in Rukungiri District are celebrating after receiving a fully equipped ambulance for Bwambara Health Centre III, donated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The ambulance was secured through the lobbying efforts of Peace Rugambwa, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Agriculture and Local People. Community members say the vehicle will greatly improve access to health services, especially for patients who previously struggled to reach health facilities or secure transport for referrals.

Residents expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the area has long lacked ambulance services. They believe the new vehicle will help standardize and strengthen healthcare delivery in the subcounty.

Musitafa, one of the residents, applauded Rugambwa for her efforts but also pointed out other challenges affecting the area, including persistent water shortages, lack of electricity in several villages, and the destruction of gardens by wild animals straying from Queen Elizabeth National Park. He appealed to Rugambwa to support the lobbying of an electric fence to protect farmers.

Muhumuza, the in-charge of Bwambara Health Centre III, thanked the Government of Uganda for the ambulance and pledged to ensure proper management and utilization of the vehicle to boost healthcare services in the community.

The event was also attended by former Rubabo County MP and current aspirant for the Rukungiri Woman MP seat, Hon. Mary Paula Kebirungi Turyahikayo. She commended Rugambwa for delivering such critical support, saying leaders who directly address community needs are the kind people deserve. Turyahikayo added that if elected, she would work closely with Rugambwa to improve the welfare of the people of Rukungiri.

Presidential Advisor Peace Rugambwa reassured residents of her continued commitment to uplifting livelihoods. She noted that the ambulance is stocked with essential drugs and basic surgical equipment, and urged the community to handle it responsibly so it can save more lives.

Rugambwa added that she will continue engaging the central government to secure more support for local communities, saying she has the access and responsibility to present people’s needs at the highest level.
