The North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop, the Right Reverend Onesimus Asiimwe, has called on Christians to prioritize repentance and avoid sin so they can live as true believers.
While delivering a sermon during a confirmation service at Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda Parish in Rujumbura Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, marking his 80th maiden visit to diocesan parishes, Bishop Onesmus emphasized the importance of repentance, condemning the act of sinning to seek forgiveness afterward.
He noted that by avoiding sin, the Holy Spirit received during confirmation can remain within a Christian, as our bodies are temples of the Lord.
Kitazigurukwa Parish comprises two churches: Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda and Kanyinya Church of Uganda.
Twehangaane Henry, the head of laity at Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda, praised Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe for his dedication to spreading the good news of salvation. He commented that many Christians are transitioning from the darkness of sin to the light of salvation.
He also outlined some of the church’s plans, including coffee and tree planting, expanding their banana plantation, and paying diocesan dues on time.
According to Rev. Gershom Muhumuza, the minister at Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda, 102 Christians were confirmed into the Anglican Church of Uganda. He urged the newly confirmed Christians to uphold and defend their faith by always doing God’s will.
