MICHAEL N
A total of 66 people have today been confirmed into Christianity at Kyabashenyi Parish in Bwongyera Archdeaconry, South Ankole Diocese.
While officiating the baptism and confirmation service, the Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, urged parents to always dedicate time to prayer for their children and to lead by example through hard work rather than cursing them. Bishop Nathan also praised the ongoing construction of the new, vast church at Kyabashenyi and encouraged the new converts to embrace the word of Christ by reading and memorizing the scriptures. He further reminded Christians to work hard so that they can overcome poverty, educate their children, and enable them to live successful lives.
Preaching during the function, the newly appointed South Ankole Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Canon Alfred Turyamureba, quoted this year’s Church of Uganda Provincial theme from Galatians 6:6–11. He urged Christians never to tire of doing good, emphasizing that those who embrace the word of Christ will reap from what they sow. Rev. Canon Alfred further encouraged believers to strengthen their commitment to charity, noting that the Lord loves those who help their neighbors and strangers.
The Archdeacon of Bwongyera Archdeaconry, Rev. Militon Turyashaba, thanked Bishop Nathan for sparing time from his busy diocesan schedule to officiate at the thanksgiving, baptism of James Biranga’s grandchildren, and the confirmation of the new converts. He called upon Christians to embrace selfless worship and sacrifice in support of church projects.
Among those confirmed were Lovna Akatukunda and Angeline Orishaba, who testified that they had learned the ten commandments, Bible verses, and other biblical teachings that will guide them in their Christian journey. They said this knowledge will help them live a precious, religious life focused on Christ rather than earthly practices.
