The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo has asked the people of Rukungiri to believe in reconciliation if they want to have peace and development in their communities.
He revealed on Tuesday while leading a team of leaders accompanied by the Rukungiri District Police Command Musa Tibakirana and Chairperson LC3 Buyanja Sub County Agaba Emmy Rubondo in a security meeting organized to consolidate ways of resolving disputes between residents of Mbunda cell, Nyakaina parish, Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District, and their member Kiconco Donanta.
Kiconco Donanta 49 years old has long been accused by Residents of practicing witchcraft in the area though residents wished to chase her away from the village.
Residents listed several challenges related to witchcraft which they attributed to Kiconco Donanta but with no evidence.
Steven Nsubuga Bewayo challenged people to trust in GOD noting that God is more powerful than witchcraft and to stop losing their wealth to witch doctors.
The Rukungiri District Police Command Musa Tibakirana noted that no law allows for the expulsion of an individual from the community and warned them against mob justice.
The Buyanja Sub County Chairperson Agaba Emmy Rubondo appreciated the team for consoling people and urged them to embrace reconciliation.
