Police in Kabale, on Monday morning apprehended two individuals on charges of vandalizing and stealing road furniture.

The suspects, Nicholas Amanya (22 years old) and Martin Ainaani, were caught in the act and were employees at Sabena washing bay in Rwakaraba cell, Northern division of Kabale municipality/district.

The operation, which took place on November 13, 2023, around 10:00 am, originated from Sabena washing bay based on intelligence received. The suspects were found in possession of the stolen items, and they confessed to cutting them from the road with the intention of selling them to scrap dealers.

Authorities have emphasized that operations of this nature will persist to combat the rampant issues of vandalism and theft, targeting both road furniture and street light solar systems within the municipality.

Nicholas Amanya and Martin Ainaani, along with other accomplices yet to be apprehended, will face legal proceedings as they are brought before the courts of law.
